Top Benefits of participation in dance classes

Physical Benefits

Dance of any form is an extremely physical activity. Participation by kids in dance will help build strong muscles and promote greater flexibility. Flexibility is often overlooked as a benefit but can really decrease the chances of injury, especially in an active child.
The nature of dance will also help children who participate in other sports. Dance helps keep the body conditioned and the mind focused which heightens one’s ability to perform other physical activities.
Move with Grace has provided extra instruction for students of Dynamo Gymnastics club, Kips Gymnastic club, Cheersport sharks, local Figure skating club, and many other sports in our community.
Educational Benefits
Several studies performed worldwide have shown that kids who are involved with dance will often excel in their academics as well as they tend to be more creative. The art of dance helps teach a child focus, creativity and discipline, all of which are highly mandatory in any area of education.
According to “FamilyTalk Magazine,” dance lessons can help to spark creativity in young children and help them to develop an appreciation for the arts. Students who regularly participate in dance lessons typically tend to perform better academically than their nonparticipating peers.

Improved Self-Esteem

As children adjust to the movements and postures required in dance, they begin to get a better sense of their bodies. As they become more comfortable in their own skin, their confidence and self-esteem also improve. According to EduDance, dance lessons can encourage children to foster a more positive attitude and explore their own self-expression.

Over and over in my 20 plus years of teaching, I see shy children find a new sense of self.
One of my greatest joys as a dance teacher is seeing a child learn a step or the first time or get on stage when no one thought they would.
