Miss Melissa Trueman

Melissa Truman is a dancer, educator, and choreographer based in Southern Ontario. Following a competitive career where Melissa twice won IDO World Championship titles, as well as many scholarship and overall awards, she attended York University, graduating Cum Laude in 2014 with a BFA with Honours in Dance.

At York, Melissa developed her passion for dance education, and she focused her degree on dance pedagogy and somatic practices. She is an Associate with the Society of Classical Ballet – Vaganova Method and a certified Acrobatic Arts Instructor. She is also a member of PAEC (Performing Arts Educators of Canada), holding certifications in Jazz and Early Dance Education. As an educator, her work has won many choreography, overall and special awards at dance competitions all over Southern Ontario.

Melissa has recently expanded into the role of dance adjudicator, which she loves because it allows her to connect with students and be a positive voice in the dance industry. In addition to teaching, Melissa has performed professionally, most notably working with Cirque du Soleil choreographer Debra Brown for Panamania. Melissa loves working with dancers of all ages and is thrilled to be a part of the Move with Grace team.
